On January 5th an actual high school wrestling match took place. In Carroll County who briefly and in a limited fashion returned to athletics had a dual meet between South Carroll High School and Winters Mill High School. Carroll County is wrestling an abbreviated schedule of in county matches only. South Carroll won the dual 50-15. Other Carroll county matches scheduled for the day were cancelled/postponed due to Covid-19 concerns.

Then shoes began to drop around the state.

Howard County cancelled their winter sports season.

 

Baltimore County Cancelled its winter sports season

 

And then the Bayside Athletic Conference Cancelled their winter sports season:

“As of today, every member county currently remains in a virtual learning environment with limited or no on-campus student engagement. Therefore, the Bayside Athletic Conference is canceling the 2020-2021 Winter competition season. Individual county members may provide student-athlete engagement opportunities as they deem safe and appropriate. The conference is continuing to work diligently towards providing Fall and Spring competition seasons.”
Director of Student Services Derek Simmons stated, “We  appreciate how difficult it has been to make these kinds of decisions throughout the course of the pandemic, and thank the Bayside Conference for their work.”
