2010 Regional Duals

It looks like the regional duals are set to be wrestled this weekend. The weather has not been cooperating and several quality teams were left out of the dual s because they did not get the minimum 11 duals in before the weekend. But weather claims a team or two every year, and this year is no exception. It looks like the first round duals to determine the eight regional champions may be postponed due to snow this Wednesday. The MPSSAA site has not been updated yet with the teams officially in the duals but so far this is what it looks like.

The format for the duals is the top seeded team is the host and wrestles the 4th seed. The second seed will wrestle the third seed. and finally the winner of 1 vs 4 will wrestle the winner of 2 vs 3.
Because of the unavailability of Whitman’s gym, Clarksburg will host the 3A/4A West dual.

1982

Just added results from 1982. A little sketchy, but do have the MSA, MPSSAA-AA and BC information. Results from Anne Arundel County and Howard County added as well. Brian Crane was the story that year. He is a three time state champion and finished his career with an 84 match win streak.

Who can repeat as champions

As the 2010 wrestling season starts lets remember who won last year, and see who will be the repeat champions. The big winners last year was of course Southern Garrett in 1a/2a who won both the dual meet championship and the overall team championship. They were joined by the familiar faces of Old Mill in 3a/4a -- winners of the dual and team championship, and Mount St. Joseph in the MIS -- after three years of domination by McDonogh.

On the county level these schools will seek to return as champions: Carroll -- Winter’s Mill, Baltimore City -- Patterson, UCBC -- Bel Air, Washington County -- Williamsport, SMAC -- LaPlata, Prince George’s -- Eleanor Roosevelt, Montgomery -- Sherwood, Frederick -- Urbana, Howard -- River Hill, Bi-County -- Southern Garrett, Bayside -- Stephen Decatur, Baltimore County -- Hereford, Anne Arundel -- Old Mill.
